Topless activists from FEMEN disrupted a citizen dialogue event in Berlin, hosted by Finance Minister Christian Lindner. At least two women stormed the stage and undressed, loudly shouting, “Women are dying because you’re not doing your job.” One of the activists responded to Lindner’s call for specific arguments with, “There’s not enough funding for women’s protection.”
The protesters were swiftly removed by security, and Lindner commented that the Federal Ministry of Finance is not the place for such demands. He clarified that issues like funding for women’s shelters and violence prevention are handled at the regional level. Lindner criticized the protest as more of a “social media stunt” than a serious dialogue.
While the protest bore the hallmarks of FEMEN’s sextremist activism, there was no immediate acknowledgment from the group’s social media. The event livestream avoided capturing the protest, focusing instead on the ceiling, while no official photos were released.
