On December 13, 2024, FEMEN activists staged a protest near the “Broken Chair” sculpture at the Place des Nations in Geneva, calling for Russia’s expulsion from the UN and drawing attention to the tragedy of the war in Ukraine.

The main theme of the protest was condemning the passivity of international structures in the face of the largest military conflict in Europe since World War II. The activists highlighted Russia’s illegal occupation of the USSR’s seat in the UN and called for immediate action to stop its aggression.
The “Broken Chair” sculpture, a symbol of the fight to ban anti-personnel mines, served as a stark reminder of the enormous human losses caused by the betrayal of the Budapest Memorandum guarantees.
The main slogans of the protest were: #unrussiaUN and Fuck UN. FEMEN once again urged the international community to act, emphasizing: silence kills.
