On December 27, 2024, at 12:00, FEMEN activist Yana Fedorets held a protest in St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City to draw attention to Russia’s war crimes against Ukrainian children.
The activist, who spoke in defense of Ukrainian children, was brutally detained and arrested by local police. The peaceful action, which was exclusively of a humanitarian nature, provoked an inadequate and aggressive reaction from Vatican law enforcement officials.
During the action, a photographer who was documenting the event was also detained. The police tried to destroy all the photos taken at the protest site, but some of them were sent before the arrest.
Despite the arrest of the activist and the photographer, the protest will not be ignored by the international community. FEMEN continues its struggle and calls on the world to take active action against the crimes of Putin’s Russia.
